Choosing adequate web and email hosting is an integral part of getting your website up and running correctly. I started offering this as a service four years ago when I realised that the majority of new clients coming to me either had insufficient space allocation or no access to databases. Either that or their web hosting and domain were being controlled by a previous hosting company/web designer and they had no access to it without going through an intermediary.
To this end, every account I set up is recommended based on what is fit for purpose and has a control panel that you can access yourself if you ever need to. If I get hit by a bus tomorrow it wont be a disaster for your business, just for mine.
Shared, dedicated or cloud?
Shared hosting – you share a server with numerous other websites.
Dedicated hosting – you rent an entire server for yourself.
Cloud hosting – a new type of hosting which allows you to store assets across different servers.
In most cases a shared hosting account is more than adequate, and that is why design clients receive one of three shared hosting packages free for a year with every project I start.
You can also order separately but will still get free help with setup and transfer from another provider. I charge annually by invoice and keep prices low to take the hassle out of using good quality, professional shared hosting.
For those running demanding applications and websites however, I partner with a specialist company who are expert in cloud and dedicated hosting services.
